A Preview of 2012-13
As the Columbia County Orchestra has continued to grow, more musical offerings are slated for the upcoming season. Read on to learn more about what is in our anticipated musical planning.
2012-13 COLUMBIA COUNTY ORCHESTRA presents
• An auditioned choral ensemble, "Columbia Voices", directed by Rebekkah Teboe. This auditioned ensemble will present programs with the Columbia County Orchestra and some "stand alone" choral programs.
• 2012-13 orchestral programs to include works by Beethoven, G.W. Chadwick, Grainger, MacDowell, "Pops in Swainsboro", Poulenc, and Rachmaninov. We kicked off the "Beethoven" concert offerings in the 2011-12 season. We continue to present further Beethoven symphonies as well as some Beethoven concerti.
• The 5th Annual Handel's MESSIAH "Sing In" will also be presented.
• Orchestral programs slated to expand taking place in September, October, November, January, February, March, April, May, & June. Planned soloists for the 2012-13 season to include: Lili Bogdanova, Martin Jones, Elizabeth Nordan, Sophia Ryoo, Andrew Sords, Rebekkah Teboe, and more. Join us in this celebration of predominantly LOCAL musicians. The Columbia County orchestras are now over 100 musicians strong, with over 90% living in the CSRA, taking in volunteer and professional musicians.
• Columbia County Orchestra Brass to present programs in the community and in area schools.
• Augusta Amusements Big Band partners with Columbia County Orchestra to offer "classic big band" programs in July and December of 2012.
• Plans to be announced soon as to where our 2012-13 concert home will be. Watch this website for more details.
